The Bundesbank hawks against Renzi: "Deeds and not words". But Merkel's line is another

The president of the Bundesbank attacks our prime minister: “Now he's also telling us what to do. Less words and more deeds” – But Renzi doesn't get upset: “Merkel's line is another” – In fact, without the Chancellor's support, not even Draghi could have overcome the rigid orthodoxy of the German central bank.

The Bundesbank hawks against Renzi: "Deeds and not words". But Merkel's line is another

“Now Renzi also wants to tell us what we have to do. It's time for more facts and less words”. The attack by the president of the Bundesbank Weidman on the Italian prime minister, Matteo Renzi, for his speech in the European Parliament all played on growth and employment is very harsh. It's not the first time the German hawks go on the attack but it's not the first time they've been defeated either. The whole monetary policy of the president of the ECB, Mario Draghi, who again yesterday confirmed that the ECB's task of supporting businesses and households "is not over yet", is right there to prove it.

In fact, Renzi did not get upset and rightly recalled that Merkel's line is different from that of the Bundesbank which the Chancellor has repeatedly overridden by supporting Mario Draghi's policy.

Of course, Germany will not make concessions and it is no coincidence that yesterday the German Treasury Minister Schoeble said that he does not want to hear about flexibility because the agreements and treaties just apply. But even here Merkel says other things and one thing is the economy and another thing is politics.
