The masters of sweets go shopping in Abruzzo. Barry Callebaut, a Swiss company that manufactures chocolate and cocoa-based products, has acquired the Abruzzo-based company D'Orsogna Dolciaria. The goal of the Swiss is to strengthen their activities in the "Specialties and Decorations" sector.

D'Orsogna Dolciaria, an Italian family-owned company, mainly supplies decorations to food manufacturers in the ice cream, dairy and bakery sectors. In 2016, it sold around 12 tons of products, achieving a turnover of around 52 million euros.

The company was founded by Mario D'Orsogna and his wife Lucia in 1957 in San Vito Chietino, in the province of Chieti. D'Orsogna Dolciaria operates in three factories in Italy, India and Canada and employs around 300 people.
