Hera and Camst have signed a memorandum of understanding which provides for the collaboration of the two companies on projects aimed atcircular economy and improve the quality of separate waste collectionreducing the amount of waste produced.
The two-year agreement, in the initial phase, will involve the Camst catering outlets located in the province of Bologna. Gradually, the range will be expanded to other territories.
The agreement provides for the launch of pilot projects in the field of sustainable mobility, the circular economy and environmental sustainability. “The organic waste produced in catering outlets can be used for the production of biomethane and compost in the Hera Group plant in S. Agata Bolognese, while the used vegetable oils (those that remain at the end of food preparation, for example frying oils or used to preserve food) collected separately can be used for the production of biodiesel , thanks to the partnership signed by the multi-utility with Eni. Furthermore, points will be created for the electric recharging of vehicles”, explain the two companies in a joint note.
A collaboration has also been established for the study of the best materials to be used as an alternative to disposable plastic and on plastic recycling projects used in catering outlets. Actions aimed at reducing waste and the reuse of uneaten meals are also envisaged. Hera will also be able to provide support on the separate collection methods and treatment of the waste produced.
Lastly, Camst and Hera will develop environmental communication activities aimed at both employees and customers.
