Green Pass, what changes from 1st September: the new rules

While waiting for news on a possible vaccination obligation or a further tightening on the green Pass, the certainty is that new rules will come into force from 1 September. There green certification that certifies that vaccination has taken place, healing or negativity to the anti-Covid test will be extended to new sectors and services. 

GREEN PASS: WHERE IT IS NEEDED TODAY

From 6 August 2021 the green pass is required to go for:

  • go to a restaurant or bar, but only if you eat indoors;
  • go to the cinema, theater or museum;
  • go to the swimming pool, gym, health club, spa, theme park, amusement park;
  • social centres, cultural centers and recreation centres;
  • events such as weddings, festivals, fairs, competitions, congresses and conferences (but not at religious functions);
  • gaming rooms, betting rooms, bingo halls and casinos;
  • play team sports.

The green pass can be shown on a mobile phone or on paper and the controls will be entrusted to the managers of the activities, who can receive fines between 400 and 1.000 euros. After three violations, the premises will be closed for a period ranging from one to ten days.

GREEN PASS: WHAT CHANGES FROM 1ST SEPTEMBER 

Based on the provisions of the decree law of 6 August 2021, from 1 September the green pass will also become mandatory to access other services, transport in primis, and to carry out some work activities. 

The most important news will concern Transports. Starting from September, the green certification will be mandatory on: 

  • high-speed trains, intercity (day and night), interregional trains. Capacity limits will be raised from 50% to 80%;
  • long and medium-distance ships and ferries, except for those connecting Calabria and Sicily. Capacity: 80%;
  • air, including local and short haul flights. 

Instead, there is no obligation for citizens who use local public transport.  

As far as work is concerned, currently the obligation to possess the green pass only concerns the healthcare personnel. Also from September 1st operators and teachers of schools and universities must have certification. Anyone who does not have it will be considered unjustified absence and, starting from the fifth day of absence, the employment relationship will be suspended, without pay.
