Green Bond: Eurizon awarded at the 2022 “Esg Champions”

Eurizon stands out for the offer of Esg funds. MainStreet Partners, the London-based ESG consultancy and portfolio analysis, has announced the winners of its 2022 “ESG Champions”. The group's asset management company Intesa Sanpaolo has won the prizeBest Green Bond Fund” for the Eurizon Fund – Absolute Green Bonds sub-fund.

This is the first instrument established in 2018 by an Italian-based asset manager specialized in international bond markets, which makes it possible to finance projects related to the environment. The fund has garnered great interest from investors, reaching a net asset value of about 2,4 billion at the end of 2021.

After the first edition of the award in 2021, this year too the recognition went to a select number of funds that stood out in their category among a total of 4.200 funds managed by over 160 asset managers. Also considering the development and growing breadth of the offer of ESG funds, different categories have been identified including equity, fixed income, multi-asset and thematic investments together with the best manager and the best boutique. The analysts based their decisions on MainStreet Partners' proprietary models and selected one winner for each of the categories.

MainStreet Partners rating is based on three pillars: the management company as a whole and the specific team of portfolio managers; the fund strategy including investment process and mission and finally the individual portfolio holdings.

The ESG rating provides for a score from 1 (low) to 5 (high). The final score is not only based on the average of the 3 pillars, but each of the 80 indicators has a specific weight and the model also includes "bonus/malus" elements depending on the category to which the fund belongs which can increase or decrease the overall rating .
