Greece, Varoufakis: we are negotiating with the EU, the ECB and the IMF, but not with the Troika

The parties yes, the whole no: the Greek government intends to collaborate with the European Commission, the ECB and the International Monetary Fund, but not with the Troika. According to some Greek media, this is the political message that Yanis Varoufakis, the new Greek finance minister, sent to Jeroen Dijsselbloem, president of the Eurogroup, during the meeting held today in Athens. Dijsselbloem had previously met with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

The Syriza-branded government “was elected aiming to question the European aid program – the minister reiterated -. We will not betray this by asking for an extension. We will try to convince partners that drawing up a new agreement is in Europe's interest”.
