Greece, Tsipras: "We are going straight to hell"

Greeks 'go straight to hell'. He doesn't mince words Alexis Tsipras, leader of the radical left-wing Syzira party, commenting on the microphones of CNN on the repercussions that the country will have to suffer due to the austerity pact signed with the EU and the IMF.

The agreement is essential to obtain international aid worth 130 billion euros, but Tsipras claims he wants to put an end to austerity and at the same time keep Greece in the eurozone, establishing new alliances to overcome the crisis: "We will do whatever we can to move in this direction, to keep Greece in the Eurozone and in Europe".

Syzira finished second in the last Greek elections, but has since denied his support for any coalition government, declaring that he cannot support any executive – technical or otherwise – that intends to implement the agreed austerity measures. His opposition was decisive in determining the calling of new elections, scheduled for June 17th.

The leaders of Syriza are accused by the conservatives of New Democracy and by the socialists of Pasok (respectively the first and third party in the elections held 10 days ago) of having overshadowed the interests of the country - which risks leaving the eurozone and uncontrolled default – for mere political gain. In recent days, Tsipras's party has significantly increased its consensus and according to the latest polls would by now lead the preferences of the Greeks.
