Referendum Greece, the No soars to 60,91 percent of consents. These are the first data available, out of about 32,68% of sections scrutinized, but they indicate a trend line which in the eyes of all political observers sounds like a clear victory for the government led by Alexis Tsipras. At the moment, 39,09% of voters have voted for Yes, with a very evident deviation from the opposite side. Even if no official celebrations are planned, the general atmosphere in Athens is festive and many people have already gathered in Syntagma Square in a festive atmosphere which gives the measure of how the flow of data is interpreted as a success by the population .
«From tomorrow we will open the way for all the peoples of Europe. Today democracy beats fear», declared the Greek prime minister in the morning after voting in Athens. The turnout was 65%: the Greek authorities communicated it, thus confirming the validity of the consultation which exceeded the quorum of 40% of those entitled to vote.
Finance Minister Yannis Varoufakis is already meeting with the Greek central bank and has announced that a summit will be held between tonight and tomorrow morning with the lenders to assess the seriousness of the situation after, on the eve of the vote, the same banks had made it known that liquidity was now reduced to 1 billion and it was expected to be completely zeroed by Monday, tomorrow, in the absence of interventions by the ECB which is meeting the governing council just tomorrow.
European governments are also on the move. A Hollande-Merkel summit is scheduled for tomorrow evening in Paris, while in Rome Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has summoned Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan at Palazzo Chigi at 9,30.
