Lega-5Stelle government, finally even the Corriere wakes up

The closure of the Ilva of Taranto, the stop at Tav and Tap, the beheading of the FS, the assault on Rai are very worrying signs of where the new government wants to go with. For the head of the 5 Star Di Maio there are no budget constraints and in September he is off with basic income and a flat tax. Il Corriere comes out of hibernation with a fund by director Fontana, what else to wait to react vigorously?

Lega-5Stelle government, finally even the Corriere wakes up

With a very harsh "fund" from the director Luciano Fontana, Corriere della Sera also realizes the very serious risk that Italy is running due to the bizarre ideas of the Salvini-Di Maio government. The threat to block the TAV and TAP, the revision of many other public works such as the Pedemontana that has been awaited for years by the entire production system in the North, the threat to close the steel mill in Taranto and the signal sent to the productive world with the so-called decree dignity, make it clear that we are dealing with a government that has no faith in entrepreneurs, that hinders decisive investments to increase the competitiveness of the system, that believes that the State can assume the responsibility of giving money to everyone by making more debts, without saying who should then be called to pay them.

In addition to those listed by Fontana, there are other reasons for alarm that should not be overlooked if we want to have a complete picture of the risks we are running. RAI is transformed into an instrument of the regime with a determination that not even the most ferocious landlords of the past have dared to practice. The president, for example, should be an element of guarantee, above the parties, capable of representing the plurality of voices of Italian society. And instead a journalist has been indicated who qualifies as a friend of Putin, anti-Euro, anti-Vax, sovereignist, etc. And it really doesn't seem like he can give guarantees to anyone other than Salvini or his gang.

At the Railways, the Board of Directors was eliminated, even though it could boast of economic results of all respect, with the excuse of wanting to re-discuss the development plan of the FS to the advantage of local routes and not of high-speed ones. A ridiculous excuse given that the local sections are the responsibility of the Regions and the FS participate in a tender for the management of these sections according to the indications of the regional authorities which allocate the money necessary to run the trains. If money is scarce, the service will not be efficient. ANAS had imagined merging with FS mainly to get out of the rules of the PA which do not ensure efficient and correct management. Now you want to go back. Why? Mystery.

Finally, one cannot fail to mention the most recent statements by the Minister of Justice, Bonafede, who wants to abolish the statute of limitations, remove any constraint on wiretapping and their disclosure, and finally set up agents provocateurs to track down not only the corrupt but also those who may they would have some predisposition to be bribed.

What emerges has nothing to do with a liberal society, inserted in Europe and in the Western world, but looks a lot like a society closed within its borders, obsessed by bad neighbors accused from time to time of wanting to harm us and to plot against us (remembering the perfidious Albion is not wrong), with an omnipotent state which grants subsidies (with devalued currency) but also severe punishments for the opponents who have now already been considered "hostile" to the government but who at this rate, among shortly they will be considered “traitors to the people”.

Finally after several years spent pampering the pentastellati or the sovereignists like Salvini, too the Corriere seems to wake up from a long hibernation and raises a cry of alarm wondering with anguish where this government is taking us. From the first acts and the first declarations of the ministers, director Fontana sees a very dangerous direction. And the ambiguous foreign policy is not mentioned, nor the attack on Parliament and on the constantly denigrated representative democracy beyond its obvious defects, which however should lead to reasoning about the improvements to be made to the functioning of the institutions or not about overcoming them in name of a vague concept of popular sovereignty.

In the same issue yesterday, the Corriere also hosted an interview with Di Maio who seems to confirm all of director Fontana's worst fears. For the head of the 5 Stars there are no budget constraints and in September both the income and citizenship and the flat tax will have to be done. So Italy's default is being prepared. Should we wait for the house to collapse on our heads to react vigorously?
