Italians make sacrifices but do not give up their holidays, even if it means paying them in installments

Take everything away from us but not the holidays. There is a crisis and the Italians are making more and more sacrifices day after day. But there is one thing they absolutely do not want to give up: the holidays. Even at the cost of paying them in installments.

The "holidays in installments" are a growing phenomenon, so much so that with the arrival of summer the amounts requested to finance the holidays have increased by 13%. These are low installments, which lengthen the time to pay off the debt by up to three and a half years. The survey carried out by the comparator Facile.it, with the collaboration of the Prestit.it site, shows that in the last six months of 2013 more than 40 thousand Italians turned to consumer credit. Compared to last year, the average amount requested increased by 13% (4.700 euros in the 2013 analysis, against the 4.100 euros in the same semester last year), and the repayment time by 5% (41 months against 39 a year ago).

The profile of the typical debtor is that of a 38-year-old man, employee of a private company (65% of requests). Lombardy is the region that conveys the largest number of loan requests for this purpose (20,1% of estimates are compiled in Lombardy, in Milan the average amount requested is 6.300 euros divided into 45 months) but Campania is the one where the relative weight is greater. The central regions, which allow themselves low-cost holidays, are more moderate: in Rome, for example, the average amount requested for holidays is 3.450 euros, to be paid in 37 months, with an installment of 120 euros.

There are no favorite destinations
but they are almost always chosen on the web. According to a research conducted by Nielsen, 18 million Italians, as summer approaches, have visited at least one site in the travel category.
