Appointment in the Garden will be held Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June and sees 150 events hosted in parks and gardens, some open exceptionally, as part of the initiative promoted by APGI-Associazione Parchi e Giardini d'Italia, with the support of Ales and the patronage of the Ministry of Culture.
This is the fifth edition created in accordance with the initiative Rendez-vous aux jardins and which will take place in
contemporary in over 20 European countries. An event that invites the general public to discover a landscape, botanical and artistic cultural heritage where Italian gardens become real open-air museums. A series of meetings, events, readings and special activities will involve: gardeners, botanists, landscapers, private owners and public managers, important foundations and associations. On this occasion 2022 there will also be an opportunity to learn about how to care for, restore and protect gardens.
Theme of the 2022 edition: “Gardens in the face of climate change” which forces us to rethink the
maintenance and conservation of gardens with a view to sustainability and resilience. And it is precisely on this theme that this year the events in some of the participating gardens are concentrated such as, for example, Micro Habitat of trees and protected insects at the Historical Park of Villa Zileri Motterle or the Walk in the garden conversing with the Historic Garden Group - University of Padua and with the Friends of Gardening Association at the Garden of Villa Pesavento.
“Among the excellences of our cultural heritage that will be enhanced by the funds of the PNRR – ha
declared the Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini "there are also historic parks and gardens.
The plan includes interventions for the enhancement and use of these unique places in the world from
great cultural and landscape value. Right now more than ever, culture plays a role
central to building a greener and greener Europe".
The event counts on the participation of almost all the regions of Italy and will take place simultaneously in numerous European countries in collaboration with the Rendezvous aux jardins initiative.
A precious opportunity to admire gardens not normally open to the public or open only on special occasions, such as a Buggiano Castle, where the Citrus gardens and the Borgo's secret gardens will be exceptionally open. Some important ones will also participate in the initiative Unesco sites,like Hadrian's Villa, the Royal Palace of Caserta and the Stupinigi Park in Turin opened on an extraordinary basis for the initiative. And some F sitesai, no less than 12, such as the Park of Villa Gregoriana in Tivoli and Villa Panza in Varese.
To the usual participation of important Private historic homes, such as Villa Tiepolo Passi in Veneto or the Rocca Meli Lupi in Soragna, which will open their own prestigious gardens, will be joined this year by the first absolute participations in the event, as in the case of Villa Miralfiore in Pesaro, a significant example of a sixteenth-century garden. In many cases it will be the owners, directors or managers of the gardens themselves who will welcome visitors, to tell the story of the garden and the daily commitment necessary to guarantee its survival.
