Japan: Eurozone accelerates on Greek aid

This was requested by Tokyo's Finance Minister, Jun Azumi, underlining the need to reassure the markets and to curb the appreciation of the yen against the euro.

"Quickly" implement the aid plan for Greece to reassure the markets. But above all, to stop the run of the yen against the euro. This is the request made by the Japanese Finance Minister, Jun Azumi, towards Europe. "Uncertainty cannot be alleviated - Azumi said in a press conference - until the countries of the euro zone have clearly shown to the market their intention to rapidly apply the aid plan for Greece".

Yesterday the Eurogroup asked Greece for new economic initiatives and new privatizations to restore the 2013 and 2014 budgets. The decision on the payment of the new 8 million euro tranche of aid was however postponed. "The Eurogroup will take a final decision during the month of October," said President Jean-Claude Juncker. In any case, the danger of an electronic default "will be avoided".
