German industrial production rose 1,2% month-on-month, better than analysts' expectations for a 0,8% increase. On an annual basis the increase was 7,6%

Germany: industrial production beyond expectations

Excellent macroeconomic data for Germany. Growth of 1,2% (adjusted for seasonality) for German industrial production in the last month, according to provisional data published today by the Ministry of the Economy. On an annual basis, the increase is 7,6%.
According to analysts' estimates, growth should not have exceeded 0,8%.
Orders also grew, up 1,8%. The Government forecasts that the German economy will grow by 2,6% this year, after the +3,6% obtained in 2010, but Chancellor Angela Merkel has already announced that GDP estimates could be revised upwards to + 3,0% for 2011.
