On a monthly level, the item that recorded the most marked decline concerned domestic orders, down by 2,5%; foreign ones, on the other hand, decreased by 1,2%.
German industry is disappointing, with orders down 1,7% in May compared to April, albeit up 7,8% year-on-year.
The economic figure is lower than the expectations of analysts, who – after the 3,1% increase recorded the previous month – had on average forecast a more contained contraction, not exceeding one percentage point.
