Generali on Cdp: there was no discussion on the possibility of shareholders entering the company's capital

"In the executive committee, no hypothesis of shareholder entry into the company's capital was discussed". This was stated by a Generali spokesman after the rumors that the meeting would also discuss the possible transfer of the share held by Bank of Italy to the Strategic Fund.

Some indiscretions reported this morning by La Stampa indicated that Bankitalia is considering transferring the 4,5% detained in the Leone capital to the FSI to avoid the conflict of interest linked to the attribution of insurance supervision. A hypothesis that the newspaper does not like some strong members of the Lion, fearful of political interference in management.

In the afternoon, some financial sources had indicated that today's executive of the insurance group would also have some doubts about the sale of the share to the FSI on the fear that this step could cause reactions in international markets and would not be seen as an operation in the Fund's mission strategic.

But a spokesman for the DeAgostini group, a 2,53% shareholder of Generali, however confirmed the fears: "We are concerned about the potential damage to the Company's image of independence especially on international markets which would struggle to understand a solution of this type, reading the risk of a political intervention. A sale on the market would certainly be more appreciated”. Meanwhile Carlo Cimbri, on the sidelines of a conference on Solvency 3 stated that “Unipol is thinking of putting Generali's 1% share “on the market”. On the Stock Exchange, Generali lost 1,5% against the Mib's 0,93%.
