Generals: Galateri and Donnet from Gentiloni

The Generali case arrives at Palazzo Chigi. On Wednesday, at the end of the board meeting held in Rome, the president and CEO of Leone, Gabriele Galateri and Philippe Donnet, met the prime minister, Paolo Gentiloni.

According to financial sources, it was simply a "courtesy visit to the Premier by the top management of the largest Italian insurance company", which has been in the sights of Intesa Sanpaolo for several weeks in view of a possible maxi bank-insurance merger. In reality, the fact that the Prime Minister has deemed it necessary to meet the top management of Generali at this moment is a sign that, in compliance with market rules, the Government is paying close attention to the Trieste-based company, considering it a jewel of the country.

On Wednesday, Galateri and Donnet left Generali's Rome headquarters together well in advance of the other members of the Board of Directors.
