Generali acquired from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, 100% of CM Investment Solutions Limited, a company developing alternative Ucits funds.
The Leo club itself announces it through a note. The purpose of the operation, the amount of which is not known at the moment, is to accelerate the expansion towards alternative strategies and give the group a change in growth outside Europe.
“Over the past ten years – explains Generali – the search for uncorrelated sources of positive absolute returns has fueled investor appetite for non-traditional asset classes. In line with this trend, assets invested in alternative UCITS strategies have increased significantly, going from less than 100 billion in 2008 to over 582 billion in August 2018, with a 2,5-fold growth in the last four years alone”.
Founded in 2007, CM Investments Solutions has been working with the most important alternative managers for over 11 years, with over 11 billion dollars in assets under management as of 30 September 2018. The company will continue to be based in London, operating on a global scale.
“Generali – continues the company led by Philippe Donnet – aims to build one of the five largest multi-boutique platforms in the world in terms of overall profits over the next 5 years, as announced during the Investor Day on 21 November last”.
Carlo Trabattoni, CEO of Generali Investments Partners, the investment arm of the group, said: “The acquisition of CM Investment Solutions Limited represents an important step forward in defining our multiboutique strategy: their undisputed expertise in the development of liquid UCITS and other tailor-made strategies will allow us to offer our customers a range of alternative products of the highest quality”.
