FS-Anas merger, Delrio: "It can be done"

The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Graziano Delrio paves the way for the marriage between Ferrovie dello Stato and Anas, the public road agency.

The feasibility study on the possible merger has given positive results, while according to what the minister himself declared, the industrial plan that FS will present shortly will be "an historic turning point".

"It seems to us that the results are positive", said Delrio on the sidelines of an event in Berlin regarding the merger process between Fs and Anas, underlining once again that in his opinion "the network should not be privatized in any way".

“I believe that there is a sector already on the market that is producing good profits and is proving itself and is already ready to be partially delivered to market investors”, reiterated the owner of Infrastructures. “The network must be kept totally public”.

In the meantime, anticipation is rising for the presentation of Ferrovie dello Stato's industrial plan scheduled for 28 September, in the context of which the details and timetable of the group's listing will also be announced, including the perimeter.

The news was announced by the company's CEO, Renato Mazzoncini, meeting journalists on the sidelines of Innotrans in Berlin.

“The listing will be announced on September 28, details and the timetable will be provided. The time horizon of the listing remains 2017”, said the manager. “It will be very important and relevant” – commented Delrio – “A historic turning point”.

We recall that, at the beginning of September, speaking in Cernobbio, the CEO of FS announced that the merger with Anas and some hypotheses for the listing of group subsidiaries should also find space within the business plan.

As regards the purchase of the Greek railways, Mazzoncini said that “by mid-October we will sign for the closing. Then a co-management phase will start and the definitive transfer of the shares, I believe from January XNUMX ". "We are looking at various things - he concluded - For example, the Dutch railways have put the road transport company up for sale: we are studying the dossier".
