Italian Fs, Italy Airways e Lufthansa team up for better integration plane-train. The three companies have signed two separate Memorandums of Understanding (one between the German company FS, the other between ITA and FS) to work on a commercial collaboration. The agreement with the German national airline also involves the Swiss, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines subsidiaries, and the local companies Lufthansa CityLine, Air Dolomiti and Eurowings Discover.
The main objectives of the two Memorandums, a note explains, are: to create effective multimodal services between air and train, connecting different modes of transport; develop a joint offer up to allowing the purchase of air and train tickets in a single solution; define combined loyalty programs.
The two agreements – continues the note – constitute the prerequisite for establishing commercial and operational partnerships aimed at developing an offer of multimodal mobility that knows how to respond effectively to the needs of e-business tourist demand and create an agile and comfortable "end-to-end" travel experience, possibly also taking advantage of common digital platforms.
For the group led by the managing director Luigi Ferraris, the two agreements form part of a broader strategy of collaborations and partnerships, with the other operators of collective and shared mobility, consistent with the objectives of its Industrial Plan 2022-2031.
