Kpmg, in the fourth edition of the report "Football Clubs Evaluation: The European Elite 2019” calculates its own the enterprise value of the 32 major European football clubs, certifying for the third consecutive year, an overall increase of 9 per cent to 35,5 billion euro. In just three years, growth amounts to +35%, a real record if we take into account the increases, often much more modest, which distinguish other companies active in different sectors. The clubs analyzed come from all over Europe: the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain are the most represented nations.
But let's get to the heart of the matter. This year's club table contains several surprises, some expected, some completely unexpected. The first concerns precisely the summit.
The first place in the ranking is occupied by Real Madrid, who in 2019 managed to overtake the unreachable ex after three years of domination Manchester United. The English club paid for the difficulties experienced in the past year by the United Kingdom, above all the devaluation of the pound, which as at 31 January 2019 caused a reduction in its enterprise value of 1% to 3,207 euros. Conversely, the Blancos achieved an enterprise value of 3,224 billion euros, achieving 2019% growth in 10 (+11 over the three-year period). The three consecutive Champions Leagues won by Florentino Perez's club also contribute to the result.
But the surprises regarding the podium did not end here: the Bayern Munich with 2,696 billion of enterprise value (+6%), undermining another big: il Barcelona, which slips to 4th place at 2,676 billion. In just one year, Leo Messi's team lost 4% of its value, achieving the second worst performance among the teams in the Top 32.
Bad news for the Juventus, which despite its +19%, is overtaken by Tottenham, passing from ninth to tenth position. In figures: 1,548 billion for the Bianconeri against 1,679 billion for the Spurs. However, Juve have something to console themselves with: commercial revenues increased by +21%, thanks to the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, followers on social media recorded a nice +42%, while the team's market value shot up by 40%. %.
