In 2011 Tax revenues increased by 1,2% compared to 2010. The most important contribution to the positive result comes from indirect taxes, which recorded a growth of 4.413 million euros (+2,3%). The direct taxes, however, substantially remained at the same level as in 2010 (+0,2%, for an increase of 410 million euro).
This was announced this morning by the Treasury, emphasizing however that last year “the cyclical recovery that began in the summer of 2009 was interrupted: starting from the second half of the year, the worsening of the economic situation of the Italian economy, consequent to the worsening of the sovereign debt crisis, led to an attenuation of the sustained growth rate of tax revenues recorded in the first few months of the year, partly offset by the effects of the measures of the public finance corrective maneuvers launched starting from the summer”.
In detail, the Ire revenue (the income tax of natural persons) presented in 2011 a decrease limited to 0,3% (-480 million euro). Ires revenue, despite presenting a negative change of 2011% (-2,9 million euro) in 1.063, shows substantial resistance despite the absence of the substitute taxes introduced with the 2008 Finance Law.
VAT revenue increased overall by 1,7% (+1.953 million euros) due to the good performance of the tax on imports (+17,7%), which amply compensated for the slight decrease in VAT on internal trade (-0,6, XNUMX%). But the real boom is that of gaming revenue, which recorded an overall growth of 10,1% (+1.209 million euro). A result linked above all to lottery proceeds (+30,2% equal to +1.578 million euros) and to revenues from gaming machines and gadgets (+6,6% equal to +236 million euros).
In January, tax revenues increased by 4,5% compared to the same period last year to 32,68 billion euros.
