Tax, digital, work: Assolombarda requests to the new mayor of Milan

For the development of Milano we need a shared vision between businesses, civil society and political society. To say it is Assolombarda which, through the mouth of the president of the association Gianfelice Rocca, offers his vision of the Lombard capital and its possible development to the various mayoral candidates, in view of the forthcoming municipal elections.

The association's vision for Milan is that of a “city STEAM': 'S' for Science, 'T' for Technology, 'E' for Engineering&Environment, 'A' for Arts, 'M' for Manufacturing”. To realize this vision, the Confindustria of Milan, Monza and Brianza has "identified 4 enabling factors, 3 strategic levers and 4 trajectories of innovation, for the Great Metropolitan Milan in the next decade".

The so-called enabling factors “start from simple Milan and digital equipped with a single neural platform, which allows full unified access to data and services of the PA", passing to a "Milan fast and accessible, to be achieved through "coordination between all forms of transport, also from the point of view of ticketing".

The third enabling factor is Milan city with human capital of quality: "We count - said Rocca - 117 thousand university students in the STEAM disciplines out of the 200 thousand enrolled in Lombardy" while the last factor is that of Milan inclusive: “Foreigners – continues Rocca – account for 13% of the Milanese population. Training, integration and inclusion mean strengthening their contribution to the growth of Greater Milan".

The three strategic levers for realizing Assolombarda's Steam vision are “the innovation, aiming to increase the technological density measured in patents; the startup, first of all enhancing the growth performance of knowledge intensive ones and theattractiveness, increasing the number of international students, and of the current 3.100 foreign multinationals operating in Milan".

To project oneself onto the world market, explains Rocca, “one must pursue excellence in certain priority sectors”. This is why it is necessary to “Strengthen Lombard and Milanese excellence in the Life Science; Step up your efforts Manufacture 4.0, aiming to increase the percentage of companies in the medium-high digitalisation range; facilitate thecreative industry and cultural, focusing on those 1.500 knowledge-intensive startups born in Lombardy since 2007 in this sector and also enhancing the Milanese and Lombard excellence of the Green Economy Network in public procurement”.

“On these bases – concludes Rocca – we offer our mayoral candidates our full cooperation for a great public-private alliance. We ask them how they intend to decline some of our proposals. And in any case we would like them to commit themselves by crossing territorial policies in a strategic plan clearly outlined in measurable projects”.
