Finmeccanica: Bassanini, foreign companies welcome for Ansaldo Sts and Breda

On the sale by Finmeccanica of the companies in the transport sector, Ansaldo Sts and Ansaldo Breda, the president of Cassa depositi e prestiti (Cdp) Franco Bassanini, has shown himself in favor of the intervention of foreign companies, not excluding help from Cdp .

On the sidelines of the Cooperative Economy Days organized by Legacoop, Bassanini, in response to the question whether CDP or one of its subsidiaries can intervene in the acquisition of the two transport companies of Finmeccanica, said: "Our aim is not to maintain a Italian company but to try to help ensure that our economic and industrial system is not dismantled. If investors who are able to ensure growth arrive from abroad, they are welcome and if needed we can lend a hand”.

In early October, the Italian strategic fund (FSI), controlled by CDP, acquired Ansaldo Energia, another company of the Finmeccanica group in divestment. There was also talk of a possible intervention by the Cassa for the disposal of the other two companies.

Last Friday, in presenting the quarterly results to analysts, Finmeccanica said it wanted to continue on the path of divestments of companies in the non-core sectors, after that of Ansaldo Energia which will have a positive impact on the year-end accounts, allowing for "a consolidated profit positive".

Buyers are now being sought for the two companies in the transport sector. CEO Alessandro Pansa hinted that he would prefer to go to a sort of auction with several buyers rather than deal with just one.

In Piazza Affari there is a slight decrease for Finmeccanica and Ansaldo Sts: respectively -0,10 with a price of 5,10 and -0,26 with a share of 7,68.
