The new One Company will be born on 2014 January at Finmeccanica, the result of the divisionalisation process of the company started in June XNUMX by the managing director and general manager, Mauro Moretti. In essence, Finmeccanica will become a single company active in aerospace, defense and security, with a new governance system divided into four sectors and seven divisions, overcoming the previous model of the holding company at the head of subsidiaries.
There will be five sections: helicopters, aeronautics, electronics, defense and security systems, space. Instead, there will be seven divisions: helicopters, aircraft, aerostructures, avionics and space systems, land and naval defense electronics, defense systems, security and information systems.
“We are proud of the work accomplished – underlined Moretti -, which has allowed us to introduce the new organizational and operational model of the Group in compliance with the times established from the outset. The divisionalisation will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Finmeccanica's activities, reducing management costs thanks to the maximization of economies of scale and synergies. With the One Company, Finmeccanica consolidates its competitive positioning on the increasingly complex and global international aerospace, defense and security markets, leveraging areas of technological and product leadership strengthened by belonging to a single large industrial group”.
The note from the group explains that “the change in governance provides for the centralization of guidance and control systems, while business management will be decentralized in favor of the divisions. The latter will be granted the powers to guarantee integral end-to-end management of the related perimeter of activity, with consequent full responsibility for the relevant income statement. On the other hand, the sectors will have coordination tasks and functions. The new Finmeccanica will be a more homogeneous, cohesive and efficient company, thanks to the centralization and integration of all processes”.
Furthermore, Finmeccanica recalls that One Company "will be active exclusively in the aerospace, defense and security sector as a result of the process of divestment of non-core activities completed in 2015".
