Ferrari, Suv and electric Supercar are coming: it's the Marchionne revolution

A real revolution which will radically change the way of seeing and experiencing the Ferrari brand. The Maranello company is preparing to jump the Rubicon and enter the SUV market.

This was announced by the CEO of FCA, Sergio Marchionne, on the sidelines of an event held at the Detroit Auto Show. There is also a date: the debut of the new Ferrari SUV could take place within two years, in 2020.

Not only that, the top manager of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles seems to have changed his mind on another matter: the electric car, defined a few months ago as “a double-edged sword”.

“If an electric super car is to be built – Marchionne explained – Ferrari will be the first to do so. Is due". Based on what has been anticipated, the project could even be included in the new business plan.

Ferrari is therefore preparing to radically change its shape. At the same time Marchionne did not rule out the arrival of another important novelty in Italy: It is "possible" that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles produces a new Jeeps in Italy.

The CEO of FCA then referred to the Italian plants. Responding to a question about the possibility of achieving full employment in our country, Marchionne replied: “The commitment we have made here [in the USA], we also make in Italy. We are increasing our headcount to 60.000 in the US. Now let's add 2.500 people [to the Warren, Michigan plant]. If we manage it well, this type of future will also arrive in Italy. Give us time to do it."

On full employment in Italy – he specified – “we must complete the development of Alfa Romeo and Maserati is a duty; it's part of the plan” that FCA will present in June. Full employment in Italy is a goal that "I don't know" if it will be "reached within the year".

Marchionne also returned to the topic of "alliances", stating that FCA "is taking off" and does not intend to "wait for the infamous wedding to occur". To be even clearer, the Italian-Canadian manager added: "I don't care and it certainly won't happen while I'm here."
