Eurozone: industrial production prices -1% year on year in May

According to data released by Eurostat, producer prices in the currency union industry experienced a drop of 0,1% in May on April and 1% on an annual basis – In the Eurozone the deflationary problem also concerns consumer prices .

The decline in producer prices in the Eurozone industry continues. According to the data recorded and released by Eurostat, in fact, in May prices showed a new decline, by 0,1% compared to April and by 1% on an annual basis. 

Compared to the previous month, the main decline was that of energy, while the other groups recorded unchanged dynamics.

Furthermore, in the currency union the problem of low consumer price inflation continues, remaining at 0,5% in June, with the clear effects on the internal market and on the competitiveness that this brings.

In this regard, the Governing Council of the ECB is expected to meet tomorrow, but which should not take specific measures on the subject.
