Eurostat: Italy's GDP per capita below the EU average

The data processed by Eurostat indicates that the Italian GDP per inhabitant was two percentage points lower than the EU average – the highest value for Luxembourg (271%), the lowest for Romania and Bulgaria.

In 2012, the Italian GDP per inhabitant was two points lower than the EU average. According to the initial estimates by Eurostat for the past year, in fact, the per capita GDP of Italian citizens stood at 98%, considering the EU average as 100. 

Within the European Union, the figure, which measures the purchasing power of European citizens, varies from 47% in Bulgaria and Romania to 271% in Luxembourg. Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Finland, France and the United Kingdom are also above average. Just below the EU average, just like Italy, Spain too.
