Telecom Italia redundancies: extraordinary redundancy fund hypothesis checks

Telecom Italia in the spotlight. While the questions on the entry into the capital of the American fund Elliott continue, on the labor front the hypothesis of extraordinary layoffs for the employees of the giant led by Amos Genish emerges.

Based on what was revealed by Radiocor, during the meeting to be held tomorrow between the company and the unions on the personnel reorganization plan, Tim will also put the CIGS option on the table, in order to manage the redundancies announced last January as part of the renovation project.

As the press agency explains, the company's request does not need the approval of the various union singles, but should directly be formalized with the Ministry of Labour. From that moment the 25 days established by law would start to explore alternative solutions.

However, no aut-aut from Telecom, also because the one scheduled for tomorrow, March 13, will be the last meeting chaired by Agostino Nuzzolo, general counsel of Telecom Italia who had taken over personnel management ad interim. In his place, Riccardo Meloni will arrive in a few days, coming from the Leonardo group but with previous experience in telecommunications companies including Tim.

We recall that initially Telecom had presented a plan that provided for 10 redundancies: 6.500 voluntary exits through early retirement and incentives, 3.500 employees would instead have been retrained. In addition, expansive solidarity was established to finance 2 hires. After failing to reach an agreement with the unions, Tim had threatened unilateral initiatives. Tomorrow's meeting, continues Radiocor "should also put on the table the hypothesis of applying the 2015 agreement (the one signed without the Slc CGIL to manage over 3 thousand redundancies) which provided for the possibility of using early retirements also for 2018"

At Piazza Affari, Telecom Italia ended the day losing 1,5% at 0,819 euros.
