Tax revenues are growing again. According to the bulletin of the Ministry of the Economy, in May 2011 they amounted to 29,438 billion euros, up both on the 27,465 in April 2011 and on the 28,239 billion recorded in May 2010. In the first 5 months of the year c 'was an increase of 7 billion euros in tax revenues, which went from 133,03 billion in January-May 2010 to 140,49 billion in January-May 2011. The bulletin shows that the results of the revenue in the first 5 months of 2011 “reflect forecasts and confirm the good stability of tax revenues, substantially attributable to economic and cyclical factors.

In the period considered, the positive rate of change in tax revenues (+5,1%) is in line with the trends recorded in the main European countries with growth rates converging in a range between 5 and 6 per cent". Direct taxes rose by 4,5% compared to the same period of 2010, while indirect taxes increased by 5,7%. VAT records a tendential increase of 4,4%, thanks above all to the revenue from the tax on imports (+28,2%). Gaming revenues show a year-on-year increase of 17,8%.
