Eni and Enel for electric mobility: charging station inaugurated in Pomezia

Enel and Eni together for the development of electric mobility. The pilot project for the first installation in Italy of Enel's "Fast Recharge Plus" infrastructure starts today from Pomezia in an Eni service station, at km 31,384 of via Pontina, a high-speed road between Rome, Pomezia and the Lazio coast.

This morning, Maurizio Lupi, Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Salvatore Sardo, Chief Downstream & Industrial Operations Officer of Eni, Francesco Starace, Chief Executive Officer of Enel, Fabio Refrigeri inaugurated the infrastructure that allows fast charging of electric vehicles , Councilor for Infrastructure and Environment of the Lazio Region, Fabio Fucci, Mayor of Pomezia.

The pilot project is the result of the agreement signed between Enel and Eni in March 2013, with which the two leading companies on the Italian energy market proposed to implement an experimental program on the subject of electric mobility, through the installation of new Enel "Fast Recharge Plus" recharge at eni service stations located along extra-urban roads, expressways and motorways, to allow motorists to use their electric vehicle even outside the cities.

The new addition to the family of "Enel columns", in fact, is an infrastructure that allows you to recharge 3 cars at the same time in both direct and alternating current, respectively at 50kW, 22 and 43 kW. That is, it is compatible with all electric cars on the market. From the point of view of the service, in less than half an hour, or in the time of a coffee break or snack in the eni station, it is possible to recharge the car, effectively doubling its travel range, and then possibly tripling or quadrupling it with other appropriate quick stops.

The location on the Via Pontina of the first eni station equipped with Enel Fast Recharge Plus for electric vehicles is strategic as it is at the center of an important industrial center in strong logistic and commuter interaction with the capital; it also intercepts the considerable tourist flow directed to the important seaside resorts of the Lazio coast.

The infrastructure is surmounted by an innovative sign specially created to signal the position of the charging station inside the eni station and is provided with all the information for its easy use. After completing a first phase of experimentation, also tending after verifying customer satisfaction with the service methods and their possible implementation on the basis of the results obtained, Enel and Eni propose to proceed with other installations throughout Italy.
