Enel X, ultra-fast charging stations arrive in IP distributors

Enel X's fast charging stations for electric cars arrive at IP petrol stations. The news is important for the impetus it could give to the diffusion of electric mobility in Italy, given that the network of ultrafast stations will allow owners of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to fill up with energy in about 15 minutes. For now, there will be only 7 infrastructures, but thanks to this partnership, the network will be able to become increasingly widespread: the stations are positioned within important IP-branded fueling areas, which are part of the European project "E-VIA FLEX-E", coordinated by Enel X in collaboration with EDF, Enedis, Verbund, Nissan, Groupe Renault and Ibil and co-financed by the European Commission under the Connecting Europe Facility Transport call 2016.

The first three ultra-fast charging stations of up to 350 kW are already operational at IP petrol stations Peschiera del Garda, in the province of Verona, Zanica (Bergamo) and Biandrate (Novara) where four vehicles can be recharged simultaneously in about 15 minutes. Four more will be added to these in 2021. Thanks to this project, Enel X becomes the first CPO in Italy (Charge Point Operator) capable of managing all types of chargers on the market.

“The collaboration with IP – he commented Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel X – is a further demonstration of Enel X's commitment to promoting the spread of electric mobility throughout the country and the creation of a network of ultrafast stations that allows for even faster charging times, which is essential for promoting long-distance travel by car, including international travel. Today's is an important first step in the path that from now on will lead us to install as many HPC points as possible throughout the boot".

“By activating ultrafast charging points along extra-urban road corridors we are doing two important things – he added Ugo Brachetti Peretti, President of IP -. First, by reducing charging times, we bring the customer's purchase experience with an electric car closer to the traditional one. Second, we expand the offer of the distributor network, which is a strategic infrastructure on which to build the transition towards sustainability. In line with the mission to get Italians moving, the IP distributor is increasingly becoming a multi-energy hub, to allow customers access to all forms of energy for mobility".
