Enel Green Power, 3 new plants in South Africa

Enel Green Power has started work on the construction of three photovoltaic plants in South Africa (Aurora, Paleisheuwel, Tom Burke). The energy produced by the plants, explains Enel Green Power, "will be sold to the South African utility Eskom, based on the right to conclude energy supply contracts that EGP was awarded in October 2013 in the third phase of the Reipppp (Renewable energy independent power producer procurement programme) for renewable energies, promoted by the South African government”.

In the same tender, in addition to the three projects, Enel Green Power "was awarded the right to build the Pulida photovoltaic park with an installed capacity of 82,5 megawatts, the Gibson Bay wind park with an installed capacity of 111 megawatts and the Cookhouse-Nojoli wind farm with an installed capacity of 88 megawatts”. The implementation of these projects "is in line with the growth objectives established in EGP's 2014-2018 business plan".

In South Africa, the Enel group company owns and operates the Upington photovoltaic plant, with an installed capacity of 10 megawatts.
