First round Sunday 10 June, possible run-off on 24 June. These are the next dates Municipal elections, fixed by the decree signed by the Minister of the Interior Marco Minniti.

The date of 10 June will be valid not only for the direct election of mayors and municipal councils, but also for that of district councils in regions with ordinary statute.

In detail they will be called to vote for the 2018 administrative elections, the citizens of 797 Municipalities, 594 municipalities in the regions with Ordinary Statute, 203 in the regions with Special Statute.

The vote in Sicily is set for the same date of 10 June, while in Friuli – Venezia Giulia, Valle d'Aosta and Trentino – Alto Adige the interested voters will go to vote on 29 April, 20 May and 27 May 2018 respectively.

Out of the total number of municipalities, there are 114 "superior" municipalities, i.e. with more than 15.000 inhabitants (more than 3.000 in the province of Trento), and 683 "inferior" ones; 21 provincial capitals. Among them there is only one regional capital, Ancona. Between the main cities involved from the electoral round include: Ancona, Avellino, Barletta, Brescia, Brindisi, Catania, Imperia, Massa, Messina, Pisa,
Ragusa, Siena, Syracuse, Sondrio, Trapani, Treviso, Udine, Vicenza and Viterbo.

The interested district councils are the III and the VIII Municipality of Roma Capitale.
