Edison: first half loss of 62 million, revenues +11,3%

In the first half of 2011, the Edison group closed the accounts with a loss of 62 million euros. A much worse result than last year, when a profit of 142 million was recorded in the same period. The negative performance - explains the company in a note - "includes write-downs of 77,5 million". Today's are the first numbers announced by the company under the management of the new CEO, Bruno Lescoeur, in office since the end of April.

As for revenues, however, the data are much more encouraging, marking an increase of 11,3%, to 5,662 billion. Net financial debt as of June 30 was 3,86 billion (from 3,7 at the end of 2010). The gross operating margin (EBITDA) fell by 21,6% to 491 million. Mol's estimate for 2011 of 900 million euros can be confirmed – explains Edison – thanks to the renegotiation of the long-term procurement contract with Promgas.

The negative half-year did not fail to make its effects felt in Piazza Affari, where just before 15 pm Edison's shares recorded a heavy loss of 30%.
