Here are the three moves with which Edison revolutionizes its offer for Italian homes and goes beyond energy: the flexible and customizable smart home solution, unlimited assistance against the unexpected and the transparent bill.

Beyond energy, for the smart home, Edison expands its range of action and enters the smart home market to provide a service that responds to the growing demand of the new "hi-tech consumers". A target of users who are always connected (98% of Italians own a smartphone) on the hunt for new customizable offers that make it possible to make the most of the asset most dear to Italians: the home. Suffice it to say that 80% of families live in their own home.

To meet this need, Edison enters the market with a new service platform, Edison World, with three specific objectives: a smart home (Edison Smart Living), a safe and secure home (Edison Casa Relax) and a home with transparent costs and powered by environmentally friendly energy (Edison World Light and Gas and Edison My Forest) .

We are applying to be close to people, guaranteeing them maximum comfort and well-being at home, thanks to a new efficient, simple and intelligent management of everything concerning the consumption and use of energy in a sustainable perspective that fuels progress" .

A strategic choice that follows a constantly expanding market, that of solutions Internet of Things (IoT) for the smart home which, as emerges from the Observatory of the Milan Polytechnic[1], grew by double digits in 2016, exceeding 180 million Euros (+22% compared to 2015). 79% of those interviewed declare themselves ready to buy a smart object in the next few years. In particular, 44% of Italian families would like to use a device that gives the sensation of having everything under control, for the benefit of comfort and protection; at 40% one that makes it possible to control consumption (heating, above all) and therefore saves money. This is the case of intelligent thermostats, which can be adjusted remotely and which are able to suggest useful behaviors to increase energy efficiency. While 29% say they are interested in managing appliances remotely. 

In the wake of this revolution, Edison Smart Living enter Italian homes with a starter kit capable of transforming any home into a smart home, remotely manageable with a single app and increasing comfort. Downloadable on smartphones and tablets and available for both Android and iOS, all smart home devices and those that can be purchased on the market (from lamps to video cameras, through household appliances and thermostats and an ever-growing number of compatible devices). The strong point of this starter kit is its extreme flexibility, which allows the consumer to customize the home according to their needs, and its simplicity of use, so much so that it does not require the intervention of an installer. In addition to the console, which integrates a camera and hot-spot connection functionality, three devices are supplied: a smart plug to turn appliances on and off and measure their consumption, a motion, temperature and brightness sensor and a door/window opening. All at a cost of 19,90 euros per month with no initial cost. Furthermore, the customer will have a dedicated assistance service available in case of need.

Edison Smart Home is open at number 35 Foro Buonaparte in the center of Milan, at the company's headquarters until April 7, from Monday to Friday from 9 to 18. Visitors experience first-hand all the potential of a domotic home and the advantages resulting in terms of quality of life and safety.

But the smart home is also the one that allows you to reduce unexpected events or malfunctions to a minimum. This is why Edison has thought of its customers by offering a dedicated assistance service for the home. This is an emergency service to cover interventions caused by unexpected events in the electrical and gas system. Edison Casa Relax Gas and Edison Casa RelaxLight each have a monthly cost of 6,50 Euros for an annual premium of 78 Euros including taxes. Compared to its main competitors, the Edison service has an unlimited number of interventions and no deductible, a one-year guarantee on repairs carried out and greater coverage thanks to a ceiling of up to 2.000 euros which includes outlay, labor and materials. With just a few euros a month, the costs associated with very expensive repairs in the event of a breakdown are eliminated.

In a market that is on its way to total liberalization, Edison has also chosen to make its customers increasingly aware and responsible for their choices, starting from the home up to the supply of electricity and gas. Edison World Luce e Gas focuses on transparency, allowing the consumer to directly access the wholesale price of electricity and gas against a minimum monthly contribution that covers the cost of the operator's service (fixed component). By choosing this offer, the consumer will finally be able to enjoy the benefits of a short supply chain, also for electricity and gas.

Edison will allow – adding only 1 euro for 12 months to the electricity or gas bill – to adopt a tree that will be planted in Haiti, with the aim of combating deforestation, increasing the absorption of CO2, reducing soil erosion, restoring hydrogeological stability and boost local productivity. By joining Edison My Forest it will be possible to follow the entire growth of the geolocated tree online on a map and share its growth and the benefits it generates for the environment on social networks.
