Eba: 200 billion in capital increases in 2012

In the first seven months of the year, banks in the euro area increased their capital by a total value of 200 billion euros - More than half belonged to the 27 banks that had a Core Tier 1 of less than 9% indicated by the EBA on last June.

2012 is the year of the capital increases. Over 200 billion euros they were destined for this purpose in the first seven months of the year. LThe European Banking Authority, EBA, had ordered the recapitalization operations and between December 2011 and 30 June 2012 the assets of the institutions increased by over 200 billion euros.

This was announced by the EBA in the final report to be published today. The 27 banks which had initially highlighted a 'hole' compared to the goal of a Core Tier 1 of 9% by the end of June, they had strengthened their capital by 115,7 billion.
