Today, March 25, the lights of over 70 UniCredit buildings in 12 European countries will go out. The Group will participate in the international Earth Hour initiative, joining for the tenth consecutive year the major WWF global event which aims to raise public awareness of the climate changes that threaten the planet.

UniCredit's support for the campaign highlights the Group's efforts over the years in terms of environmental conservation and sustainable development. Since 2009 UniCredit has been committed to reducing its emissions. The Group has already achieved the -30% target for 2020 and is now looking at new ambitious goals: -60% by 2020 and -80% by 2030.

This year, the lights of some of the most representative buildings of the Group will be switched off for an hour in 12 countries: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, and Hungary. UniCredit Tower joins the initiative again this year. The bank's management in Milan has received the Leed GOLD certification from the US Green Building Council for the scrupulous attention paid to energy saving in construction and design.
