Doping: Russia excluded for another 4 years from the Olympics

The heavy accusation of Wada, World Anti-Doping Agency, has arrived: Russia will be barred from Olympic Games for the next 4 years. The flag and anthem of Russia will not be allowed at events such as the Olympics Tokyo 2020, the World Cup of 2022 in Qatar and the Winter Games of Beijing 2022.

The Committee unanimously determined that the anti-doping laboratory in Moscow (Rusada) altered the laboratory data by inserting false evidence e deleting related files positives that could have allowed to trace the athletes in violation.

The sanction implies that the Russians until 2024 will have to be content with participating in national competitions. The athletes who will be able to demonstrate theirs extraneous to wizards of Rusada, will still be able to compete as independents, below neutral flag

Russia will have 21 days time to appeal Court of Arbitration for Sport (Tas) of Lausanne, but, given the previous scandals, it will be difficult to obtain a lightened sanction.

Russia has been embroiled in doping scandals since a 2015 report commissioned by Wada found evidence of mass doping in Russian athletics, many of the athletes have since been fully private individuals of their flag at the Winter Games of Pyeongchang last year and at the Olympics of Rio de Janiero in 2016, as punishment for covering up state doping ai Sochi Games 2014.
