Other canvases by the divisionist painter will be proposed, such as Thunderstorm, Landscape, Memories, around which the section dedicated to those authors who trained at the School of Fine Arts in the Vigezzo valley will revolve, such as Enrico Cavalli, Giovanni Battista Ciolina, Lorenzo Peretti Junior, Gian Maria Rastellini .

Domodossola, a passionate collector from Hayez to Fornara, from Scipione to Messina

The first episode of the exhibition aims to explore this area and opens ideally with the self-portrait of Carlo Fornara (1871-1968) and with one of his best-known masterpieces, "Chiara pace", painted in 1903, when the artist took refuge in the high mountains sharing the rough life of the shepherds. And one of them is the protagonist of the scene: he seems to be resting in the shade of a tree, but his presence gives the sunny, luminous mountain landscape a dimension of "clear peace".

The exhibition then ranges from landscape painting, such as John Constable's intense sunset over the Seine, the tormented romantic views of Antonio Fontanesi, or those of Giovanni Fattori, Giuseppe De Nittis, Pompeo Mariani, Daniele Ranzoni and Telemaco Signorini, to the extraordinary portrait season, represented here by Antonio Mancini's street urchin, Giacomo Favretto's Venetian commoner and Francesco Hayez's praying pious woman.
There is also a survey of XNUMXth-century art with Ottone Rosai's couple of sweethearts embracing, who travel through classically inspired scenarios in an almost metaphysical suspension, or with the olympic rhetoric of Giorgio de Chirico's Cavallino bianco.

Two sections will then be reserved for as many chapters of the Poscio collection; on the one hand, the sculpture, where, among others, the dancers will meet in the interpretations of Francesco Messina and Paolo Trubetzkoy, the vigorous bronzes of Leonardo Bistolfi, a dreamy head of a girl by Silvestro Lega, up to the plastic classicism of Wolfang Alexander Kosuth.

On the other hand, a selection of the impressive corpus of the collection dedicated to drawing will be presented, with works, among others, by Jacques-Louis David, Moses Bianchi, Filippo De Pisis, Scipione, Domenico Induno.
