Anti-crisis decree: majority on tilt

Bossi defines Tremonti's speech in the Chamber as smoky, branding the meetings with the prime minister as a "breaking of c..." and concludes: "They didn't convince me". Napolitano meets the parties to invite them to cohesion. Yesterday, in addition to Berlusconi, he saw Bersani and Casini. Today he will meet Alfano and Fini. Between today and tomorrow a decisive Council of Ministers

Not even the unexpected plus 4% achieved by Piazza Affari has served to give oxygen to the Government, to the majority, and, more generally, to politics. Despite the return to Rome of the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano who interrupted his holidays and started a round of consultations with the parties across the board, as if we were in the midst of a government crisis, everything still seems to be on the high seas. Everyone recognizes that time is short and that the Council of Ministers to approve the anti-crisis decree will have to be held today, at the latest tomorrow with the markets closed. But that cohesion repeatedly invoked by the head of state seems increasingly distant. And so Tremonti's speech in Parliament, the subsequent meetings and nocturnal summits only serve to highlight an unprecedented situation of detachment.

Precise indications do not come from the Economy Minister's speech, draconian measures are evoked, but responsibility is attributed to the famous letter from the ECB, which however remains secret. The reactions are harsh. Bersani says he is "bewildered", Casini considers some of Tremonti's words crazy, the Speaker of the Chamber Fini declares himself "stunned". But the worst comes from the majority, with some members of the PDL threatening not to vote on any decree. And Bossi goes further. After defining Tremonti's speech as "smoky", he adds that the meetings with Berlusconi turned out to be "a pain in the ass..." Then late in the evening, after a series of meetings at Palazzo Grazioli, he evokes the crisis by stating: "I don't they convinced". In the meantime, sources close to the premier let it be known that Berlusconi is considering the hypothesis of a video message on television. Yes, but to announce what? And with what credibility? Meanwhile, a newspaper close to the center-right (Libero) this morning does not hesitate to speak of "Betrayal" with regard to the patrimonial hypotheses for the richest.

The impression is that this is the worst mid-August in post-war Italian political history. In the field as a reference for public opinion remains the commitment of the President of the Republic who will continue his political meetings this morning, starting with the secretary of the PDL Alfano. Yesterday at the Quirinale, in addition to Berlusconi and Letta, Bersani and Casini went up. The hope is that the conditions can be created in which the Council of Ministers can approve the anti-crisis decree that markets and international bodies have been asking of us for too long now.
