from school di fashion atfirm: a new model for training students and introducing them to the world of work in a crucial sector for the Italian economy. With this objective, a model of certification of skills for the fashion system sector was created, created by a working group assisted by Unioncamere in partnership with Confindustria Fashion e TAM network, the national network of institutes linked to the fashion sector, which last October signed two memoranda of understanding.

The model was presented today, Wednesday 22 February, at MICAM Milan – the world's leading international footwear exhibition – under the patronage of Assocalzaturifici, in the presence of about 200 students, numerous entrepreneurs and business representatives.

On the basis of a matrix of skills, the working group made up of teachers from technical and professional institutes developed a training project valid for the three-year period, measurable through defined performances and levels of performance, then certified through a test/exam which verifies skills and soft skills by issuing a certificate of attendance and an open badge. Furthermore, the working group involved in particular teachers from the ITIS Paleocapa of Bergamo, the IIS Caterina da Siena of Milan, the Professional Institute Cattaneo-Deledda of Modena and the IIS Benvenuto Cellini Tornabuoni of Florence.

Bringing fashion school closer to the world of work

“The need to search for specialized personnel at all levels remains high and the issue of generational turnover is very strong. Collaboration with schools and ITS is crucial and strategic to strengthen the process of attracting young talent,” he said Giovanna Ceolini, president of Assocalzaturifici and MICAM Milan.

“In the coming years, the Textile, Fashion and Accessories industry will need over 90 trained and competent professionals. It is for this reason that moments of discussion and sharing of objectives such as today are essential to bring the world of education closer to the entrepreneurial world and, above all, to try to overcome the existing gap between supply and demand in the labor market and to be able at the forefront of promoting youth employment,” he commented Gianni Brugnoli, Confindustria Vice President for Human Capital.

"It is necessary to make the school-university, school-to-work, university-to-work transition more effective in order to reduce the skill mismatch, aligning the professional demands of greatest interest to businesses and the skills of young people", he declared Claudio Strong, Deputy General Secretary of Unioncamere.

Roberto Peverelli, President of the TAM Network and ISIS Manager Paolo Carcano: "Today's appointment has a particular relevance because it allows the direct sharing of knowledge and tools necessary to favor the meeting and the improvement of the interaction between entrepreneurial and training realities, with a particular attention to the technical/professional area, and puts into play the vast offer of growth opportunities for those approaching the Textile, Fashion and Accessory sectors.
