From Japan the camera specialized in selfies

The selfie has become a rampant fashion: images of oneself - alone or in company - taken with a smartphone, tablet or digital camera, go crazy everywhere, from magazines to social networks. Fujifilm, to meet the growing hunger for self-portraits and video self-portraits, has created a new digital camera – the New Concept Camera – which is able to automatically focus on a person, keep them in the center of the frame and follow their every movement by taking pictures on repeat. Simply place the camera on a stand and let it do all the work, avoiding the hassle of holding the camera in your hand and pointing it at yourself or at a mirror.

The subject to be photographed is selected using a tablet, connected to the camera via wireless; through the tablet it is also possible to program when to make the machine zoom or pan. The prototype of the new camera was presented in Cologne at Photokina 2014, the most important world trade fair for the photographic and imaging industry.

“We aimed to create a device that worked like a personal photographer,” said one of the designers of the New Concept “a camera, that is, that could follow the chosen subject by capturing movements and expressions as if there were a professional behind the lens ”. Fujifilm intends to commercialize the product as soon as the necessary tests have been completed and sufficient data on consumer satisfaction has been collected.
