Confidence grows: stock market up with Poste, Leonardo and banks

Positive day for the European Stock Exchanges driven by good quarterly results and some revisions. Super-euro reaches new records above 1,17 against the dollar, encouraged by the July Ifo index of German companies which reinforces the idea of ​​a slowdown in Qe in 2018. Shining Luxottica and Telecom Italia continue to run after Cattaneo.

Positive closure for European stock markets, with German business confidence reaching a new high in July and Greece back on the debt market. Also of note is the rally in oil. On the other hand, Wall Street travels mixed, with the Dow 30 and S&P 500 on the rise and the Nasdaq below the water line. 

Piazza Affari stops at 21.457 basis points, +0,61%, driven by Leonardo and Poste, both growing by 3,4%.  

Among the other continental lists, note the good rebound in London, +0,77%; good Madrid +0,74%; Paris +0,65%; Frankfurt +0,45%.

In New York, the quarterly phase continues and in the wake of the accounts, purchases on McDonald and Caterpillar rain, while sales on Alphabet continue. On the Fed front, however, the conclusions of the meeting are awaited tomorrow, even if, at the moment, an increase in rates is unlikely.

The bullish phase of the euro against the dollar continues, with the single currency reaching 1,17 during the day, before falling back to 1,165 (+0,13%). Oil is picking up after the cuts announced by Saudi Arabia. Brent is back in the 50 dollar zone, at 49,92 dollars a barrel, +2,72%.

Instead, the positive trail of seven sessions of the BTPs is interrupted, with the yield of the Italian ten-year bond rising to 2,14% and the spread with the Bund at 157.10 points, +1,49%.

Looking in detail at the individual titles of Piazza Affari we find Leonardo, queen of the price list, which today inaugurated a new avionics plant in L'Aquila. Poste Italiane benefits from the promotion of Banca Akros to "buy" from "neutral".  

The market rewards Luxottica +1,54%, after the half-year results, in line with the year-end objectives. Among the insurance companies, Generali shines +2,4%. The bankers closed in contrast: strong Ubi +2,2% and Unicredit +1,61%; Intesa Sanpaolo did well (+0,77); weak Bper -0,43% and Banco Bpm -0,19%.

More an effervescent session for Telecom, +1,66%, following the formalization of the departure of CEO Flavio Cattaneo, who will receive around 25 million euros.

Sales are concentrated on Buzzi -1,45%. Down Saipem, -1,35%, with disappointing accounts, but the other oil companies are traveling fast: Eni +1% and Tenaris +1,47%. Negative Brembo -0,97%. Downside session for utilities, in particular Enel -1,28% and Italgas -1,07%.  

Out of the main list Juventus and Lazio create sparks, with growth of 5,74% and 5,85% respectively. Heavy seating for Toscana Aeroporti -5,48%.
