See you soon". Zingaretti himself had spent the last few weeks giving a message of trust, also going to Milan, one of the cities most at risk, to attend "anti-panic" events and aperitifs.

Zingaretti is not the first politician affected by the virus: in recent days the mayor of Piacenza, Patrizia Barbieri, and two councilors of the Emilia-Romagna region tested positive, Raffaele Donini and Barbara Lori. A policeman from the escort of former Interior Minister Matteo Salvini also tested positive.
