Corrado Sciolla, a fifty-year-old Piedmontese, current president of BT Global Services Europe, is approaching Fincantieri where, in all probability, he will become general manager in the next few days after the sensational resignation of Andrea Mangoni. The go-ahead for Sciolla, who will act in harmony with CEO Giuseppe Bono, came from Cassa depositi e prestiti (Cdp) which controls Fincantieri through Fintecna.
Coming from the McKinsey school, Sciolla was in the past at the top of Wind and his name, precisely because of the skills he gained in the field of telecommunications, was repeatedly considered for the renewal of the top management of Telecom Italia.
The completion of the top line with the arrival of a proven manager, even if new to the shipbuilding industry, should restore stability to the Italian shipbuilding group which last year lost more than 50% on the Stock Exchange and which closed the week with a drop of 7,89%.
