Coronavirus: more deaths in Italy than in China, zero infections in Wuhan

Italy surpasses China and becomes the country with the highest number of deaths in the world caused by the coronavirus Covid19. Second data from the Civil Protection, Italy's casualty tally rose to 3.405, with a daily increase of 427. In the Asian country, however, since the beginning of the epidemic there have been 3.245 deaths. Some question the likelihood of the data provided by Beijing (according to the Chinese authorities, not even one new infection has been recorded in Wuhan in the last 24 hours), others point out that in Italy the average age of the population is significantly higher than in China. The fact is that, at the moment, the mortality rate of the coronavirus in our country is worrying.

In Italy, in fact, the total number of infected people, including the victims and the recovered, reached 41.035. The healed there are 4.440, with an increase of 415 between Wednesday and Thursday. If healed and deceased are excluded, 33.190 infected people were registered in our country on Thursday evening, that is 4.480 more than on Wednesday.

As for only Lombardy, now "the coronavirus positives are 19.884, 2.171 more than the day before, a significantly higher figure - said the Councilor for Welfare of the Region, Julius Gallera – There are 7.387 hospitalized patients, with a much lower growth, only 182 more. There are 1.006 hospitalized in intensive care, 82 more and 2.168 more deaths, 209 more”. In Milan alone, infections rose by 635 in a single day.

For the situation of the health system, Gallera explained that “in which in many hospitals there is almost no bed available, there is no longer a place to hospitalize someone who arrives in the emergency room waiting to find a bed in Lombardy. Almost two weeks have passed and we thought it was enough, but the finish line is a few kilometers further on. We have to grit our teeth, but we'll make it. It is necessary for everyone to have a responsible attitude, let's see the results on Sunday".
