Real estate sales at the lowest since 2004

Real estate sales at the lowest since 2004

In the third quarter of 2012, real estate sales fell by 25,8% yoy, the worst figure since 2004. This was revealed by the Territorial Agency which today presented the usual quarterly note by the Observatory. The residential sector recorded a decline of 26,8%.

Total sales were 213.782 in the third quarter of 2012, while residential ones 95.951, less than the level recorded in the 80s (1986). The director of the Observatory Gianni Guerrieri explained that "the acceleration of the descent is very sudden and violent, families have drastically reduced the purchase of homes, there are profound reasons connected to the crisis we are experiencing".

The other sectors: tertiary -27,6% (2.191), commercial -29,7% (5.420), manufacturing -25,9% (2.186), appliances -24,8% (76.878). In the eight largest Italian cities, the decline was widespread, overall -24% (15.154): Rome -27,5% (5.381), Milan -27,2% (2.974), Turin -15,7%, Genoa 23,2%, Naples -0,4%, Palermo -28,1%, Bologna -29,9%, Florence -26,6%. Even in the province, sales recorded significant contractions.
