The newly elected president of the European Commission, Jean Claude Juncker, announced the names of the new EU executive, made up of 27 members, including 18 men and nine women. French socialist Pierre Moscovici, former finance minister in Paris, gets the key post of commissioner for European economic affairs. Financial services go instead to the British Jonathan Hill.

The German Guenther Oettinger, former Energy Commissioner in the commission chaired by Jose Manuel Barroso, is responsible for the digital economy, while Energy and the Climate are the responsibility of the Spanish Miguel Arias Canete. Swedish Cecilia Malstrom moves from Intern to Commerce.

At the Internal Market the Polish Elzbieta Bienkowska. Alongside the foreign policy representative, the Italian Federica Mogherini, there will be six other vice presidents, of which the first, the current Dutch foreign minister, Frans Timmermans, will have a mandate for an agenda to improve the Regulation.

If confirmed by the Parliament's vote in October, the EU executive chaired by Juncker will take office on November XNUMXst.
