Food collection, Intesa Sanpaolo confirms support

Intesa Sanpaolo confirms its support for 24th National Food Collection Day promoted by the Banco Alimentare. This year, in the face of the Covid-19 emergency, the Bank is intervening with an additional contribution that strengthens the twenty-year partnership established with the Food Bank for the reduction of food waste and distribution to people in difficulty.

The support to the Colletta Alimentare is added to the initiatives underway with the Banco Alimentare Foundation: a multi-year framework agreement to enhance the capacity to collect and distribute meals to people in need, through non-profit assistance organizations of the Banco Alimentare network; “Re-fished: from the illegal to the solidarity market” to ensure that the seized poached fish by the Port Authorities is intended for those experiencing situations of social and economic difficulty, and the "Siticibo Project" thanks to which it is possible to recover the surplus of cooked and fresh food from organized catering (hotels, company canteens, school refectories, hotels, restaurants ) and from large-scale retail outlets, distributing them to the charitable organizations of the Banco Alimentare network.

This year the ways in which the collection is carried out are different: the "Day", which started on November 21st and will last until December 8th and, to limit the possibility of contagion, the food will be donated through "gift cards" of two, five and ten euros available at the checkouts of Italian supermarkets, at participating points of sale and online on the website www.mygiftcard.it. At the end of the collection, the total value of all the cards will be converted into non-perishable food products, which will be delivered to the regional offices of the Banco Alimentare and distributed to the approximately 8 affiliated charitable structures that support over two million people in difficulty.
