RANKINGS 2014 – Records, books, films: Vasco Rossi, Marcus Zusak and Maleficient win

We have an image of the Italian cultural market as now almost completely colonized by international productions, first and foremost from the United States.
But a glance at the 2014 rankings of records, books and films, at least in part, can make us change our mind about the state of health of the national cultural industry.

Vasco Rossi, with "Sono Innocente", is the winner of 2014, second and third respectively Pink Floyd with "The Endless River" and Tiziano Ferro with "TZN-The Best of Tiziano Ferro". The past year has seen Italian music strongly present among the best-selling records in the top ten, with seven out of ten artists: Also noteworthy are some long-term successes, such as Ligabue's Mondovisione, best-selling album in 2013 and still among the top ten positions in 2014.

BOOKS

It's not so good for books, but we still defend ourselves: six Italian authors out of the top 10 bestsellers.

Competing with the surprise Zusak and the more consolidated international authors of bast sellers such as Green, Follet and Tratt (best book of the year according to the editors of the main newspapers) we find the very solid Camilleri and Carofiglio with no less than two titles apiece (respectively in third and eighth position and fifth and tenth), the ironic Serra (ninth) and a few weeks after the exit the exciting Gramellini paired this time with Gamberale (seventh).

CINEMA

Here the challenge is much more difficult. Among the top ten most watched films in 2014, only three are Italian. Only nine of the top thirty e. In all, 28 Italians out of the top 100 most-watched films in Italian cinemas in 2014. After all, 50,22% of 2014 collections are for films made in the USA, and only 27,19% are the result of Italian industry, including co-productions. Keeping up the tricolor in cinemas A boss in the living room in second place after Disney's Maleficient with 1,89 million spectators and 12,3 million receipts (in theaters from 1 January 2014), The rich, the poor and the butler in fifth place with 1,580 million spectators and 10,83 million receipts (in cinemas from 11 December), Sotto una fortunate star in 7th with 1,65 million admissions and 10,31 million receipts. The excellent Il Giovane Fabulous, which made many rediscover the great leopardi, although much loved by the critics, has to settle for 21st place with 1,06 million admissions and 6,2 million receipts. Italians, Tuta colta di Freud at 12th and Let's go to hell at 13th.
In 2014 admissions in cinemas dropped (-6,13%) to around 91 and a half million and takings (-7,09%) to around 575 million. Let us console ourselves by noting that the average ticket price in 2014 was 6,02 euros and decreased by 1,1% compared to 2013 and by e3% compared to 2012.
